Keeping Memories Alive
Let's take a step back - In 2021, I suddenly lost my heart horse, Spyda. He had a heart attack.
There are many memorial items you can have made after such a loss, bracelets from tail hair, chromed shoes, cushions from rugs. The list goes on.

But I wanted something very special...
In losing him, I started my journey in leatherwork.
If you know me, you know that I am a perfectionist in all I do.
I have kept my leatherworking a personal secret until now.

For the love of Spyda
One of the hardest, most heart-wrenching aspects of losing your beloved horse can be having their tack sitting at home, collecting dust!
It can be tough having to tackle the inevitable things left behind that will forever hold memories.
Saddles, bridles and rugs hold special sentimental meaning.
What to do
Not wanting to sell or gift my saddle and bridle, what options were there?
Well...
I was at a big horse show, having a wander and window shopping. I came across a trade stand which sold handbags made from recycled saddles. Ping! This was like a light buld moment for me.
After sourcing the right training for me. My first bag, I made was using my old Dubarry Boots.
Next I lovingly transformed Spyda's saddle and Whitney exercise rug into a personal, bespoke handbag.
